Board of Directors
Derek Henze: President
Derek Henze is the founder of the Open Doors Foundation. He had the simple desire of wanting to be a good Father to his kids. He wanted to create activities and opportunities to teach his kids core morals and responsibilities. He also believes in the importance of being engaged and active as a family. These simple thoughts turned into what Open Doors is today.
Derek has had an entrepreneurial and community focused background. He served in the US Army from 2000-2008, serving in Iraq in 2003-2004. He graduated from UW-Whitewater with multiple majors in Business & Economics. He has owned a restaurant group, a business consulting company, and now is a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones in Milton.
He has a long history of community service in Milton. He has served as a board member for The Gathering Place, the Milton Fund, and the Milton Chamber of Commerce. He has led the Milton 4th of July Parade for over ten years and the Festival for over five. He has conducted the Gentlemen 101 program for over ten years and co-founded the Daddy/Daughter & Mommy/Son dances with his wife.
He currently serves on the Milton City Council and helps with many things in the background for Milton with the focus to keep Milton the amazing community that it is.
Kari Klebba: Vice President
Kari Klebba has deep roots in the Milton community and a strong belief in the power of connection, tradition, and shared experiences.
Professionally, she brings a background in public history, communications, and community engagement. She previously served as Executive Director of the Milton Historical Society and Milton House Museum, where she worked to preserve local history and create meaningful educational experiences for visitors of all ages. Today, she works for the School District of Milton in communications and community outreach, where she considers it an honor to celebrate and highlight the great things happening in Milton’s schools.
Her service on the Board of Directors is separate from her role in the school district, but closely aligned with her belief that Milton is a place where families thrive when opportunities are accessible, inclusive, welcoming, and fun. Kari is proud to be part of the Open Doors Foundation and its ongoing efforts to bring people together and strengthen the Milton community’s sense of belonging.

Through Open Doors, she has formed new friendships and is grateful to witness the positive impact it has on families and the community. She is proud to be part of an organization that creates welcoming spaces where people can connect, grow, and feel supported.
